A number of people have been getting the following error message when trying to view YouTube videos on the Cybersalt sites. "We're sorry, this video is no longer available" This is not a problem unique to the Cybersalt Sites as people all over the net are reporting this problem. Here are two solutions - I recommend you try both. One cause of this problem seems to be a little program called "Google Web Accelerator." This is a program that many people are using to speed up their web surfing. Apparently it works well for many, but it is currently messing up a few people's ability to view YouTube videos. If you are using Web Accelerator, try turning it off and see if that helps things. Another tip to try come from my friend Rob who manages technical and customer support at islandnet.com. Here's what he suggests (as copied form his comment below): Tim, I was told the solution for this is to: So there you have it. Give those a try and let's see if they work for you

I use a Mac and can't run either Google Web Accelerator or Internet Explorer, and my Firefox browser (as well as Safari) both frequently show me the "We're sorry" message in a number of the YouTube files ref'd by CyberSalt. Not all of them, mind you, just a few, and it doesn't seem to be a regular, predictable pattern.

I'm running firefox, I have no GWA, and up until yesterday, every video worked fine. Yesterday, all videos worked for about twenty minutes, and then I started getting the message. Today, none have worked at all. I tried clearing my history and deleting all temp files and every other suggestion i've heard, including re-installing flash.

If you try a web proxy, you'll be able to watch videos in FF or IE. However, some proxies are useless as they'll just request flash player, etc. Then just try other proxies until one works. I use troglodytes.net. Downloading the videos is another problem though.

Hello Tim,
YouTube Fix
Have had this problem for a few weeks and this is what fixed it for me if you are running Firefox. If you have the Adblock Plus addon installed on your Firefox browser, go to “preferences” and see if Youtube is CHECKED in the “My Add Blocking Rules” section….if it is, UNCHECK it. This worked fine for me…..hope it helps. |
