The following is my collection of Back Pew toons summarizing the importance, AND the challenge of being faithtul to read God's word.

- The word of God is sharper than a two edged sword .. Hebrews 4:12
- All scripture is God breathed .. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
It is a light unto my path .. Psalms 119:11-13

So if it is soooo important.. and it is literally the word of God then why do I make it so difficult and put it off? I must admit that sometimes I put it off when my day becomes harried with so much to do in my day, or I get caught up in a passage that is tedious to read. As many read through the Bible plans get hung up in the important but tedious to me laws of Leviticus.

but no matter the challenge, I would encourage each of you to be faithful in spending time in God's word. There is a purpose for every book and while the books of Leviticus and Deutoronomy you may find yawners.. they are important in recording the laws and guidelines for the early Nation of Israel.

But so much of our Bibles there great stories. The creation story through the Exodus from Egypt. The stories of King David, Solomon, Jonah and the Whale, Noah's Ark, Daniel in the Lion's Den are all amazing stories with a purpose. The plight of Job is a great book when we ask "Why God me?"

The books of Psalms and Proverbs are great books of praise and wisdom to encourage each of us.

Then the Gospels are the amazing stories of the life, death, and ressurection of Jesus Christ the son of God and our savior.

The book of Acts is the retelling of the First church and the life of the first great missionary the Apostle Paul.

The Espistles are great books from Paul to the churches of the day with teachings that are so relevant to each of us.

Finally, the Book of Revelation is the prophesy of the end times.138

So the next time you find yourself clicking through the TV channels and bored that their is nothing on worth watching.. maybe take this opportunity to open your Bible and see what God has to say.
