be careful what you smile aboutI am a student of smileology and have been just about all my life. If you can't smile at something,it's not worth thinking about. Of course, certain things in life are serious, but not that many. Too many people take everything seriously and ruin their life. These are the kind of people I like to be around because they take things so seriously and because of that, the jokes on them.

When I see somebody that looks sad, I have an impulse to try to do something to make them laugh. It is that smile on our face that defines who we are.

ants ants ants where are the uncles I have learned in my life that the small things are the ones that get you down. You would think the big things are the ones to steal most of your time. But those big things call attention to themselves from the very beginning. You know they're there, you know you have to do something about it, and so you do.

The little things in life, usually unnoticed and ignored, cause most of the problems. Everybody has their definition of what a "small problem" really is. A small problem for me is finding the pen I need for a particular project. I have a different pen for each project, and I don't like to mix them up. Someone in the family thinks it's crazy for me to have that kind of a problem. But everybody is crazy in some way.

knock knock someone s in troubleFor some reason, the last several weeks we have been getting many visitors at our door. I'm not sure if this is a general trend or if it is just our door. Some of them have been salesmen, religious people, scam artists, and a host of other people.

They only had one goal in mind, and that was to get our money. I guess I have not realized how wealthy I am. Everybody wants my money. If they only knew how little money I had, they would be running away from our house. I can't even get my money because I'm not sure where it is.

If it was up to meFifty years ago, I was a teenager. Boy, do I miss those Days of Yore. It's not that I would like to relive them,

but I was a much different person back then. As a teenager, I knew everything, and all you had to do was ask me. Even if you didn't ask me,

I still would tell you what was on my mind. I wished I knew everything today because people are asking me questions I can’t even answer.

A teenager is someone between being a baby and being an adult. I sure don't want to be a baby, and I've had misgivings about becoming an adult. An adult has all kinds of responsibilities, of which none define the term "let's have fun."

oh the daze of my lifeWhen I was young, my mother was quite a fan of a soap opera called “The Days of Our Lives. ”I remember the title but I never would watch something like that. However, my mother enjoyed it and so what’s there to complain about.

As I was thinking of it, I felt that I should remember the days of my life. But, instead of "days," I need to put in the word "daze," which more clearly represents my life.

Why God Gave Me a Tongue

One thing about getting older is that you begin to understand the old saying that you don’t know what you don’t know. It has been so true for me. When I think I know everything, something comes up that I never even thought about. Sometimes The Gracious… Read More

Sir Forgets-A-Lot to the Rescue

Contrary to the idea that the older you get, the more you forget, it has never been my experience. I have forgotten things for as long as I can remember. I even forget things that never actually happened. It runs in our family, though it came to me… Read More

When Is It Okay to Be Snarly?

Normally, whatever normal means, I don’t get agitated by many things. I can keep my cool under the most bizarre circumstances. Nothing gets under my skin, and I can take everything with a grin. I can’t remember the last time I lost my temper and got mad. I’ve… Read More

Doctors Are Always Right

Last year I suffered what is referred to as a heart attack. I got to the hospital in time, so there was no major damage. I had one artery known as the "Widow Maker" that was 90% blocked, which seemed to be a very serious thing. Who knew I even had a heart,… Read More

What the World Needs Today Are Fathers

There is much talk today about what’s wrong with our society. That list is pretty long, but the most important cause of problems in our culture today is the lack of fathers. So many children grow up without a father in the home. How tragic. I was fortunate… Read More
