Cybersalt News - June 14, 2020

Sunday greetings everyone!

Yesterday was my mom's 80th birthday. She was (and is) a great mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. I don't know if I have ever mentioned this or shared it here before, but she and my aunt Linda (her sister) once appeared on the old television show "What's My Line?" They were both amongst the first police women on the force in Toronto.

Today's shared video is the episode she appeared in back in 1963. If you want to skip to their part, it begins at 7 minutes, 54 seconds into the video

Rev. James Snyder recently ended up in trouble with the love of his life after an encounter with some love bugs. You can read "Love Bugs Are Really Not That Loving" at:

Black Canyon Biker

bicycleA man decided that he was going to ride a 10-speed bike from Phoenix to Flagstaff. He got as far as Black Canyon City before the mountains just became too much and he could go no farther.

He stuck his thumb out, but after 3 hours he hadn't gotten a single person to stop. Finally a guy in a Corvette pulled over and offered him a ride. Of course, the bike wouldn't fit in the car. The owner of the Corvette found a piece of rope lying by the highway and tied it to his bumper. He tied the other end to the bike and told the man that if he got to going too fast to honk the horn on his bike and he would slow down.

Everything went fine for the first 30 miles. Suddenly, another Corvette blew past them. Not to be outdone, the Corvette pulling the bike took off after the other. A short distance down the road, the Corvettes--both going well over 120 mph--blew through a speed trap. The police officer noted the speeds from his radar gun and radioed to the other officer that he had 2 Corvettes headed his way at over 120 mph.

He then relayed, "And you're not going to believe this, but there's guy on a 10-speed bike honking to pass."

Annoyances

man frustrated1. When something is "new and improved." Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then there must have been something before it.

2. When people say, "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too." What good is a stupid cake you can't eat? What, should I eat someone else's cake instead?

3. When people say, "It's always in the last place you look." Of course it is. Why would you keep looking after you've found it? Do people do this? Who and where are they?

4. When people say, while watching a movie, "Did you see that?" No, I paid good money to come to the theatre and stare at that thing over there. What did you come here for?

5. People who ask, "Can I ask you a question?" Didn't really give me a choice, did ya there buddy?

Featured Illustrations are items well suited for illustrating or inspiring a point in a sermon, speech, or devotional. Funny, moving, or perhaps even graphic, the point of them is the point you make with them.
