Two wins in two days means two backflips from NASCAR's new star Carl Edwards.

A few NASCAR drivers before him have taken on the grueling task of driving in both the Busch and Cup Series. But none can claim the spectacular emergence of Carl Edwards.

Saturday's win in the Aaron's 312 at Atlanta Motor Speedway boosted him to #1 in that series. Exactly one day later, Edwards, on the final lap, got a great run on Jimmie Johnson coming out of turn two and slipped by him for the Golden Corral 500 Cup win.

"This is the biggest win of my career," Edwards said after the Saturday race. Sunday he was too excited to top that expression. In fact, Edwards was nearly speechless as he grasped for words to thank his sponsors and others who have helped him tremendously in his bid to become a NASCAR driver.

His car owner, Jack Rousch, could be seen heartily congratulating Carl on his second win in as many days.

It is a hectic pace to run a full schedule in both the Busch and Nextel Cup series. Sometimes there is only minutes between qualifying or practicing both cars. Long plane rides way into the night rob you of sleep when the races are at different tracks on the same weekend. Eating on the run is a given as you hurry from one event to the other. But, for Edwards who ran the truck series in 2004, the pace doesn't seem to bother him.

Just as there is an extra cost in time and energy to run both series, the thrill of driving and winning is worth the sacrifice. Carl Edwards is willing to do whatever is necessary to run both the Busch and Cup races. Anyone who follows NASCAR will say Carl is performing the task wholeheartedly and well.

It should, also, be our desire, as Christians, to wholeheartedly follow our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Instead we often find ourselves serving half-heartedly rather than giving our total dedication.

Carl Edwards has given himself full time to becoming an excellent NASCAR driver. And this weekend proved his faithfulness paid off grandly with two wins in two days.

We, too, must abandon everything that gives us any security and make Jesus our first love. Do not allow yourself to be distracted from putting your trust completely in Jesus. Receive Him as your Savior, follow Him wherever he leads, and you will be rewarded with an eternal home in heaven.
