Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

great speechEvery now and then you just have to dig up the past, so that is what Grandma Cybersalt and I are doing at Cybersalt Word Headquarters this week. The street we live on is a major artery in our community and in recent years there has been a lot of new development surrounding us. This has resulted in our road becoming very busy.

It has never really been safe to back out of our driveway when we head out somewhere. To avoid doing so, we have always pulled up in front of our house and backed in after returning from somewhere. However, traffic has become so heavy at times that it's no longer safe to sit at the side of the road to wait to back in. So we are digging up our front front yard and replacing it with recycled asphalt. Ok, technically we are paying our son-in-law to do that work, and only after we failed to try and find Joni Mitchell to do it for us.

Today's video share is a really impressive speech. I think you will enjoy 'The Power of Words' by Mohammed Qahtani.

Sunday greetings, everyone!

Pessimist, Optimist, PsalmistMy good friend, Harold McNabb, shared today's news image on Facebook and when I saw it I was so struck by its wonderful truth that I had to share it with you today!

Today's video share shows the sunken wreckage of Earnest Shackleton's lost ship, Endurance. The story of his Antarctic expedition, and subsequent survival of he and his crew, is perhaps one of the greatest adventures of mankind!

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

big chuteI'm off to the dentist today to get my teeth cleaned and to be reminded that I should remember to brush behind my front teeth as well! I do pretty well with brushing and flossing my teeth regularly, but I will admit that being fastidious about some of the finer details of oral hygiene does fall by the wayside when I've already had a day full of lots of little chores and tasks

Today's video share is a place I've been to a couple of times in my life and have been hoping to revisit on some of my recent trips back home. "Big Chute" is the only marine railway of it's kind in North America.

Sunday greetings, everyone!

world's biggest water tankThere was no Chicken Thursday mailing last week. Things were already pretty crazy workwise and on top of that I help a friend move. The move itself wasn't that bad because it was from one apartment to another in the same building - and there was an elevator! On top of that, he had hired to movers to help. They were both young men whom I was very careful to let carry all the heaviest things.

There are some men of my vintage who have not yet figured out what they think they can lift is more than they can actually lift, but I am not one of them. Since I have reached the point in life when I can hurt myself sleeping "the wrong way" I am more than happy to not hurt myself doing other things I think should come easily.

Today's video share shows an really interesting scientific project that is certainly not a "tankless" job!

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

There is lots of news about the Cybersalt.org ministry website today.

Davis Family Feb 2024First of all, it's ugly! OK, that may not be news, but I was reminded of this fact while doing some work on in it today. It is the proverbial "mechanic's car" in that I spend so much time working on others' websites that I end up neglecting my own. I will try to show it some love to make it look better.

Secondly, I have decided to remove Google ads from the Cybersalt.org site. For many years the revenue from Google ads on the pages were an encouraging and helpful source of extra income when I was the pastor of a small church that was neither growing in attendance nor finances. But That revenue has really dropped off in recent years and today I realized that a lot of the ads where only making the ugliness of the site uglier and hard to read. For some time now I have intended to replace them with promotions for services that I offer through my company (cybersalt.com) but until those are ready there will simply be less ads.

Finally, and most excitedly, The Cybersalt Digest and Cybersalt Ministry site are now featuring a new blog. I mentioned a few weeks ago the writings of a good friend of Grandma Cybersalt and mine were going to be appearing on the site and I am happy to point out that the first of Susan Page's devotionals is in today's mailing. For many years Susan Page has written devotionals for the National Prayer Guide of the Associated Gospel Churches of Canada where she serves as their Church Relations Coordinator / Health Benefits Manager. Susan is also a talented photographer, which can be seen by the photographs which adorn her articles.

In other news, our daughter, son-in-law and grandson flew home, yesterday, after a wonderful week long visit during which our entire family was able to be together a couple of times. On Sunday I told you I had hired a photographer friend to take some pictures. That turned out well because not only did it spare my family having to endure me trying to take all the pictures, but also Sunny Gill takes great family photos - as you can see from this proof I have authorized for early release! We are grateful to God that we could be together in one place and for all the memories we have of His faithfulness and care over us down through the years.

Today's video share answers a question I have wondered about for some time, but never could be bothered to find the answer for: "Why are there black dots around the outside of your car's windshield?"
You can watch the video here.

Sunday greetings, everyone!

Alexei NavalnyCybersalt World Headquarters is going to be a noisy place today as Grandma Cybersalt and I, our 3 kids, their 3 spouses, and all 6 grandchildren are under one roof. That's 14 in total! It surprises me that our family size has grown to that - no wonder the planet is warming. I've got a professional photographer friend lined up to take pictures so I don't have to stress herding the Davis clan into position, and of course I will share the best picture in a future episode.

Today's video share is an excerpt from an interview with Alexei Navalny.  I am inspired by this man who laughed after saying what he wanted others to remember if he was killed for his principles. I want to be that sold-out for Jesus, after all Jesus was that sold-out to save me!
