"What does it profit, my brethren, though a man say he has faith and have not works? Can faith save him?" James 2:14 by request.

The fact that we are saved by faith and not by works is well established in Scripture. God in His Word goes out of His way to assure us that we need only faith. The following are just some of the places in Scripture you may refer to. Mark 16:16, Acts 16:31, John 3:16, Gen. 15:6, Heb. 10:38. With these comforting texts there is no doubt that we are saved by faith, and anyone who denies that denies Scripture.

So what does it profit a brethren though a man say he has faith and have not works? Can faith save him? The fact is that good works accompany faith as surely as good color accompanies health and as light accompanies the sunshine. Good works are the fruit of faith. A good tree bears good fruit, and a man of faith performs good works. It cannot be any other way. "Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone" James 2:17.

Christian friends,  Let us by the grace of God persevere our faith and hold fast to the profession of that faith.

Christian, rise and act thy creed;                                                                                   Let thy prayer be in thy deed;                                                                                       Seek the right, perform and true,                                                                             Raise thy works and life anew.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - The righteousness of God is that righteousness by which through grace and mercy God justifies us by faith.
