"But our commonwealth is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the LORD Jesus Christ. Phil. 3:20

Paul says we who believe in Christ are citizens of heaven. By Baptism we were born into the kingdom of heaven. We are under the gracious rule of Christ, who suffered and died and now rules as LORD over all.

As citizens of heaven we are more than invaders of earth, taking all we can get for ourselves. We are not refugees, running to escape danger. We are more than tourists, who admire the work of others but fail to contribute to human welfare.

We are heavenly pilgrims. We live in this present life, though not attached to it. We are aliens, for our country is in heaven. We await the Savior Jesus Christ to come and change our bodies to be like His glorious body. We have this hope, for we know the power of His victorious life.

Christian friends, It is important for us to be reminded that though we are living on this side of heaven for now, our eternal home is the place where our loyalty should lie. We need to set our mind on things above, not on things of the earth. Col. 3:2

Beyond earth's sorrows, the joys of heaven;                                             Beyond earth's shadows, a glorious dawn;                                                 Beyond earth's battles, sweet peace unending;                                       Beyond earth's sunset is heaven's first morn.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - As pilgrims we remain unattached to things. As citizens of heaven we await our LORD
