"Then they worshiped Him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God."
- Luke 24:52,53

With their worship they acknowledged Jesus as God. Obediently they returned to the city as He had directed where they prayed. They did not brood or despair over His absence. They rejoiced greatly, cheered by what the ascension means. They remained in the temple halls, praising and blessing God for all the manifestations of His mercy and l ove which they had experienced, and knowing that great events were impending in connection with the promise of the Holy Spirit.This they did before the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. They would do much more after Pentecost.

Christian friends, Although Jesus has gone away, the Holy Spirit makes real to us His presence so that we too can worship, pray, and witness as His disciples did centuries ago. These are still the best ways to celebrate what Jesus has done for us: Worship--Pray--Witness.

Jesus conquered death and fear;
Now He reigns from heaven above.
Spread the word both far and near
Of His great redeeming love.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - Jesus had to go away so the Holy Spirit could come to stay.
