Our most cherished treasure is revealed in the details of our daily life: our decisions, our actions, our priorties, our attitudes all shout aloud what we hold dear. The care with which we attend to the details of the everyday is a sign of the care with which we attend to things eternal. "Whoever is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much."

In Jesus' story of the dishonest manager, the manager is commended for his shrewd tactics. The children of light (Jesus' disciples) are said to be less shrewd than the mangers of dishonest wealth. As people of faith we serve God and His kingdom, we are managers of the good news, faithful in little and in much. "My heart must not build upon anything else or trust in any other thing(than God), be it wealth, prestige, wisdom, might, piety."

Christian friends, unlike the shrewd manager, we are not left alone to devise shrewd tactics, and we need not worry about our eternal home. God "desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." Through our bath in the waters of grace, we are empowered to trust in and to serve the kingdom. As we return daily to our baptismal promises, we find in our hearts the treasure of our faith in God.

      Just start where you are in serving the LORD
      Claim His sure promise and trust in His Word;
      God simply asks you to give what you can,
      He'll use your gifts to further His plan.

PRAY - Keep, we pray You, O LORD, Your Church with Your perpetual mercy; and because without You we cannot but fall, keep us ever by Your help from all things hurtful, and lead us to all things profitable to our salvation. Amen
