When I remembered late Wednesday that I hadn't put it together yet, I was just plum tuckered out. There was also no mailing on Sunday, which I blame my granddaughters for, lol. In other Cybersalt news, I had a real treat today when Cybersaltines Bill and Beth Romahn connected with me during their West Coast travels. Bill contacted me some time ago about wanting to give me his collection of emergency humour reserves from his speech writing days. Amongst many things, he used to write speeches for the Minister of Agriculture when Pierre Trudeau (Justin's dad for you young Canucks) was Prime Minister. Having said that (and lost half of my Canadian readers who just deleted this e-mail), it was nice to sit down with Beth and Bill and talk a little bit of Cybersalt and a bunch of life.

Thank you to everyone for your kind comments after I announced my upcoming retirement from Westside Bible Church. Some have wondered if I will be continuing on with Cybersalt. The simple and big answer to that is, "Yes!" and I'll have more to say about that in the near future.

What will be changing is the ministry focus that Susan and I will have. We will be working to help churches with the process of refugee sponsorship as well as helping individuals and churches support persecuted Christians overseas through Pakistan Evangelistic Ministries.

Oh look, the first Chicken Thursday of 2018 - Happy New Year!

On December 24th Grandma Cybersalt and I found out grandchild #3 was on the way and on this past Monday (July 25th) we got to meet . . . . . . . HER!

Introducing Naomi Alice Driver, born at 5:19am on July 25. 7lbs 7oz, 20.5 inches and - for those who know to ask - with nothing extra to report. Congratulations to the new parents Esther Driver and Joshua Driver.

Thanks to all who responded with interest to connect with Christian refugees who have fled Pakistan for Thailand and now find themselves in terrible circumstances. I'm working to match you up as soon as possible. The time change between here and there, varying levels of English (my only language) and trying to make sure they understand the initial nature of the connection is slow going at times. Thanks for your patience.

In other news, Shopify is hiring in Canada and Ireland. My daughter, Alyssa, works for Shopify as one of their tech support people (which they call gurus) and he told me that Shopify has a push on to hire people who can start in October so they are trained and working by Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This is a work from home job and Shopify supplies the laptop.

I am guessing this isn't Tommy. If it is, I apologize for missing the chance to send you congratulations on your 100th birthday - about 30 years ago!

Cybersalt has begun to support Christian refugees who have fled to Thailand and find themselves in terrible circumstances. Having fled Pakistan using tourist visas long expired, they are not allowed to work. However, they still need to pay rent and buy food while they wait years for their UN applications for refugee status to be processed. Consequently they live in constant fear of being arrested and taken to an Immigration Detention Center. One of our goals is to connect these brothers and sisters in Christ with other Christians through e-mail and social media for the purpose of mutual encouragement through prayer and fellowship.
