"I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

There is great power in the atoning blood of our LORD Jesus Christ. Christ and His Cross are not to be played with as though they were ordinary things. There is great power in the atoning blood of our LORD Jesus Christ. Christ and His Cross are not to be played with as though they were ordinary things. Thousands of people have a religion of this sort. They say they believe in God. They attend a church service occasionally. They want to be married and buried by the church. Most of them do not take Christ seriously. To them, Christianity is not a life and death issure. It is regarded as something like a spare tire, not essential, but good in a pinch.

A Christian who trifles with holy things may be responsible for the loss of other souls. Lenten time is not for a spiritual splurge. It is time to draw near to the Cross and with earnestness to learn the meaning of the Cross for time and eternity.

Christian friends, God never wants us to be content with our accomplishments. He wants us to reach even higher plateaus of service and Christlikeness. Don't be satisfied with your spiritual attainments. With His help, keep pressing on.

When you've reached a plateau,
And your strength's almost gone,
But the LORD still says, "GO"
That's the time to press on.
