"For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day."
- 2 Corinthians 4:16

We hear a lot written by poets and artists about spring. They describe it as a season of intriguing beauty. The face of the earth is renewed by the barrenness of winter which gives way to life and color springing forth from the awakened powers of the soil.

Yet spring is also a time of deep contrasts as we have witnessed lately. Leaden skies, killing frost, sharp winds, gentle showers  and the genial rays of the sun.

The life of a Christian is like that. Sunshine is in his heart when he hears, as it were, the voice of the Holy Spirit, saying, "Abba, Father."  The song of praise is on his lips. This may be followed by a period in which the sky is . . .

The life of a Christian is like that. Sunshine is in his heart when he hears, as it were, the voice of the Holy Spirit, saying, "Abba, Father."  The song of praise is on his lips. This may be followed by a period in which the sky is overcast. God seems to have gone into hiding. With Job the distressed child of God says: "Oh, that I knew where I might find Him."

Through the varying weather of spring there is growth. the changes move the life of the plants on toward flowers and fruit. Often in the clatter and thump of life, we wonder what is happening. But if we are faithful to God and obedient to His Spirit, others will see and hear the beauty of spring and harmony of Christ's life in us.

Christian friends, let us hope in God no matter how discordant things seem. He keeps the melody playing.

Renew my will from day to day;
Blend it with Thine and take away
All that now makes it hard to say,
"Thy will be done."  Amen

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - We go from strength to strength as we go from struggle to struggle.
