Sunday greetings everyone - and welcome to November!
Last night, when we were walking around trick-or-treating with our daughter, son-in-law and two of our grandkids, I remembered that October 31st was the anniversary of my retiring from pastoring local churches. I commented to my wife and daughter that it was eight years since I had retired, only to be corrected that it was nine years. If you've ever had one of those moments where you suddenly lost an entire year of your life, you know how I felt.
The good news is that missing year was one of blessing and growth, so I'll take it. I can look back and be grateful, even though somewhere my numbers have gotten a little out of whack.
Speaking of out of whack, as I've mentioned in the past, our province, British Columbia, is one of the western provinces in Canada that is no longer changing its clocks back an hour in the fall. So we are now permanently on UTC−7. It's the first time in my life that the clocks are not getting changed. I think it's pretty cool, and I'm looking forward to experiencing something new.
One of the first things that's new is that when I look across the Salish Sea to the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, I'm actually looking back in time a whole hour. Not to be outdone, everyone on that side, when they look back at Vancouver Island, can see the future!
Today's video share will be good news for you if you've ever felt bad about Pluto being demoted to a dwarf planet and just orbiting out there all by itself. Pluto is not alone. It has a friend.
