The other day I was at the new Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. I was sitting in the section where they have this huge glass wall where you can sit and watch all the fish swimming around, thousands of fish, including sharks.

In that tank, there are two whale sharks which were 16 feet long, they were huge animals. But the one thing I noticed about them was that although they were these huge fish, and swam around seemingly unafraid of everything, they were surrounded by little small fish. One of the aquarium attendants said the small fish swim right beside and all around the huge whale sharks, because they know nothing will try to attack them there....they are safe, as long as they stay very close to the whale shark.

I was thinking about that, and thought of how that applies to us as Christians. As long as we spend time with God each day and stay close to our Saviour, we also are safe. Safe from this world's temptations, safe from Satan's harm, and safe from destroying our own lives by foolish and stupid choices. However, the moment we think we're fine on our own, we don't have time or need to spend time with God, we're in trouble.

A lot of people seem to think they don't have time to spend each day reading their Bible and praying, and they wonder why they . . .

A lot of people seem to think they don't have time to spend each day reading their Bible and praying, and they wonder why they don't feel safe........we must follow our Saviour. As the song so fittingly says; "Where HE leads me, I will follow."

I think the following poem sums it up:

I GOT UP EARLY ONE MORNING
AND RUSHED INTO MY DAY
I HAD SO MUCH TO ACCOMPLISH
THAT I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO PRAY
PROBLEMS JUST TUMBLED ABOUT ME
AND HEAVIER CAME EACH TASK
"WHY DOESN'T GOD HELP ME" I WONDERED
HE ANSWERED "YOU DIDN'T ASK"
I WANTED TO SEE JOY AND BEAUTY
BUT THE DAY TOILED ON GREY AND BLEAK
I WONDERED WHY GOD DIDN'T SHOW ME
HE SAID: "BUT YOU DIDN'T SEEK"
I TRIED TO COME TO GOD'S PRESENCE
I USED EVERY KEY AT THE LOCK
GOD GENTLY AND LOVINGLY CHIDED
"MY CHILD, YOU DIDN'T KNOCK"
I WOKE UP EARLY ONE MORNING, AND PAUSED
BEFORE ENTERING MY DAY
I HAD SO MUCH TO ACCOMPLISH
THAT I HAD TO TAKE TIME TO PRAY
