Dedicated to all parents taking kids to college--and to all parents who need to know that, whatever's going on, YOUR child is HIS child too!!

Whew! What a roller-coaster weekend this has been--the emotional highs and lows of sending your first son off to college--and though I had not planned to do this, I must share with all of you one more moment--a high-point that happened on Sunday. THEN we?ll get back to "normal"--whatever that is!

The weekend freshman orientation for parents concluded with a chapel service on Sunday morning, and a special prayer time when faculty and staff prayed one-on-one with each student and his family. With my husband on faculty, I've been to many a commitment service such as this. I've cried with other moms leaving their kids--this year I WAS one! A whole different ball game!

As I sat there, recalling a whole lifetime of memories involving a little . . .

As I sat there, recalling a whole lifetime of memories involving a little boy now grown-up and ready to try his wings, God--who is so faithful--whispered deep within my heart, "He's MY child too!" Isn't that ALL any of us as parents need to know? What a faithful God we serve--we can place our kids in His mighty hands--for they are HIS kids too!

Don't know what you're going through today--all I know is that I needed to share this! If you've got a son or daughter who's in crisis of any kind, if you're a parent, concerned and anxious, fearful and troubled about him, her--or them--for any reason at all, let these words sink deep into your heart today as they have sunk into mine--"He's MY child too!" BELIEVE it--and have a wonderful day!

And now--just one more Kleenex-moment for all moms (I've received emails from moms who are reading and relating!). Please take time to read this poem written by a dear friend, a pastor's wife in Canada, entitled "Blessing." May it touch you as it did me--and if I have any Kleenex left, UNUSED, you're welcome to it! God love you all--and help us all!

"Blessing" - by Charlene Fairchild:

Scripture: Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children of God...(1 John 3:1)."

Prayer: "Lord, thank You for the opportunity you've given us as parents to raise little ones for you in the "fear and admonition of the Lord." Thank You for the special times and moments we each recall of the good times--and the bad--and Your love helping us through it all. Now we let them go into the hands of a Heavenly Father--who loves them even more than we do. They're YOURS, Lord--take them, protect them, guide them and use them for Your glory, In Jesus? Name, Amen."

All Scriptures are taken from the King James Version of the Holy Bible.
