A Hurting Word...

The theme of my life these days is "Run, Peggie, Run!"--like all moms who do taxi service for kids, run errands, attend appointments, and--well, if you're a mom, I need elaborate no further--you KNOW! But lately I've got a new themed adventure--"Walk, Peggie, Walk!"--and I walk the neighborhood development for exercise and physical fitness. I've got a dream...perhaps my NEXT adventure will be "Sit, Peggie, Sit!" - oh, not at my computer--in a beach chair by some faraway ocean.....ah, what fantasy! (Don't worry--if I have a laptop, you'll still get your devos...grin!)

I took a walk early one morning this week--and you know that's a good time to pray too...try it! I'll be honest--I prayed, "Lord, I don't have a devotional for this week!" And as I walked, facing east, I walked right into the SUNSHINE breaking through the beautiful fall foliage of the Midwest....and I had my devotional! I KNEW somewhere in that sunshine there was . . .

And as I walked, facing east, I walked right into the SUNSHINE breaking through the beautiful fall foliage of the Midwest....and I had my devotional! I KNEW somewhere in that sunshine there was a devotional, and there is! Come with me to the Well--the SON is waiting there for us to bring HIS precious, bright SONshine into all of our lives! Skip the sunglasses--you won't want them in HIS light!

A Helping Word...or Two!

The SONshine of His Grace!

Lot's wife went walking one day in God's Grace. He planned to save her and her family from destruction and evil; and you know what happened. She turned around, away from the grace of God, forever to be known in Bible history as a pillar of salt. Was she just a curious woman? Did she forget something? OR was her heart still in Sodom? Whatever the reason, she disobeyed God and paid an eternal price for just turning around...

Don't turn around...whatever the circumstances of your life, God knows what He is doing. He has planned "sufficient grace" for the journey you take and you can trust Him! So wipe away those tears, hold your head high, and walk into the SONshine of His grace. It's there in unlimited supply for you today!

The SONshine of His Joy!

Mary Magdalene went walking one day in sadness toward the tomb of her Lord. Jesus, her Savior had just been crucified. He was gone out of her life. She dragged her way despondently to the garden and there she knelt in her sorrow...

And then something happened. She heard a voice call her name, "Mary!" She KNEW that voice...that voice had forgiven her; that voice had loved her with a divine love she never knew before. She would know that voice anywhere. Through her tears, she looked up and cried, "Rabboni" or "Master!" I can see her turn around, worship her Lord, then arise to walk back home--not in sadness this time, but with the biggest smile on her face you could imagine! Sure, she was walking back the same way, but THIS time, walking into the SONshine of His joy. Her Savior was alive and everything was all right!

God knows the sadness and pain of your life this day. Listen to Him call your name; then arise, walk into the SONshine of HIS joy, for "Weeping may endure for a night, but JOY cometh in the morning (Psalm 30:5)." Walk toward that morning...and know His wonderful joy--and as you walk, remember, "The joy of the Lord is YOUR strength! (Nehemiah 8:10)"

The SONshine of His Peace!

Well, Peter is about to take the walk of his life...but before he walks, he stands in a boat--the waves crashing, the wind blowing, and His Master sound asleep. I can hear him shout, "Jesus, wake UP!--we're going to DROWN!" Fear filled the hearts of Peter and his friends--now why did they fear? The Master of the wind and waves was in their boat--couldn't they trust Him? But they were human, and like we would be--scared to death! Not for long, though, for with a word--three words, "Peace Be Still!"--Jesus calmed the winds, the waves and the wildly-scared men!

OK, Peter, calm down...and some day in the near future, you're going to walk on the water and into the SONshine of His peace once again. It will be the walk of a lifetime--fear will rise once again, but His voice and His call will calm your anxious heart. And my friend reading this devotional, His voice will calm your heart too. Listen within the stillness of your heart - let Him quiet the raging storm - you too can walk into the SONshine of His Peace. He's promised, "...My peace I give unto you...let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27)"--take it and take that walk!

...and that's just a word or two from my SONshined pathway to yours!

His Healing Words

"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1 KJV)."

"Lord, I've been walking in the shadows long enough. I'm ready to turn around and walk into the SONshine of Your grace, Your joy, and Your peace. I will do it THIS week, in YOUR strength! In Jesus' Name, Amen.
