His master replied, "Well done, good and faithful servant, you have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things."

Despite the headlines, despite all the evidences of moral littleness and decay there are in the world some truly great people. These are the men and women who live in two worlds but are at home only in one. They are timeless people. They are wherever God has come, in every nook and corner, in every walk of life. They are the salt of the earth, the light of the world, the great clocks of God. When they stop running and working this insubstantial world, the passing universe, will end. They are what they are because one day there was a Man on a Cross, and believing Him they have been lifted to true greatness, beyond the stars, to the company of angels and archangels." that they might be His own and live under Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness."

Strangely and mysteriously these truly great people are . . .

Strangely and mysteriously these truly great people are often found in curious places, frequently they are nameless. It really does not matter to the world or to history who they are.  All that matters is what they do in every walk of life, in high and lowly places, in kitchens, offices, stores, pulpits, sick rooms, hospitals and schools. Their greatness lies in their perfection in seemingly little things, the greatness of a life spent wholly in the service of others, life that looks for no human reward and assuredly does not get it, a life laid moment by moment at the feet of Him whose cross has lifted them up into greatness. If you are looking for your reward here on earth there will be no reward in heaven. I'm willing to wait.

When you've given your best for the Master,
The best your life can afford,
He will say, "Well done," to His servant;
"Now enter the joy of the LORD."

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - When you do what pleases God, God is pleased with you.
