"Looking Unto Jesus."
- Hebrews 12:2

These three words encompass the Christian faith and life. We look to Jesus first of all as our Savior. "My faith looks up to thee, Thou Lamb of Calvary, Savior divine comes to mind as I read this Chapter in Hebrews. We look to Him for cleansing in His blood.

We look to Jesus as our Mediator and intercessor. Through Him alone we approach the throne of Grace. "He ever liveth to make intercession for us" 7:25

We look to Jesus as our LORD. We are bought with a price. We are baptized in His name. We belong to Him. "Whose I am and whom I serve" said St. Paul. in Acts 27:23. So must we. We look to Jesus as the Master of our lives, whom we would serve with gladness of heart, day by day.

We look to Jesus as our Pattern, "Who for the joy that was . . .

We look to Jesus as our Pattern, "Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross" 12:2.  "For even hereunto were ye called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example that ye should follow His steps" 1 Peter 2:21.

We look to Jesus as our Pattern of patience, purity, gentleness, kindness, sympathetic helpfulness, humility, and every other noble virtue. "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus."

We look to Jesus as our Guide, Friend, Companion, and Comforter. We are never left alone. He is always at our side to hear our cry to cheer our hearts to uplift our spirits. He leads us in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

Christian friends, look at yourself and you will have doubts; look at circumstances and you will be discouraged; but look to Jesus and you will always be safe, satisfied, and blessed.

Oh, look away to Jesus, when sorrow presses sore,
And when temptations gather thick, keep looking all the more.
"Tis looking unto Jesus turns darkness into light,
Looking unto Jesus makes it right, all right.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - Jesus, lead Thou on, Till our rest is won!"
