"Verily I say unto you, wherever this Gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her."

When Mary anointed Jesus' feet shortly before His death, she had no thought of setting up a memorial for herself. She was not thinking of herself at all.  Her thoughts centered in Christ.  Her one desire was to prove her love and devotion to Him who had so richly blessed her with His light and love, truth and grace. Yet Jesus Himself declares that  Mary's gracious act of faith and love would be remembered and would be mentioned as long as and wheresoever the Gospel of His redeeming love would be preached in the world. As Jesus said, so it has come to pass. Through all these long centuries, and now in all parts of the world, Mary's gracious service has been remembered.

It is entered on the Sacred Record for our learning and encouragement. When the new man within us seeks to serve Christ, then the old man impedes and rebels. Even when we render gladsome service to our LORD, then others misjudge and condemn us, as was the case with Mary.

Christian friends, what a comfort, then, to know that Jesus approves our every service of faith and love. He is pleased to accept such tokens of gratitude as we bring to Him. Though we by no means deserve any rewaard for any service that we render to Him who gave His life for us, yet Jesus graciously assures us that even a cup of cold water given in the name of a disciples shall not go without reward. Matthew 10:42

      Show love to others young and old,
      Encourage them while they are near;
      For when they've gone to their reward,
      Your loudest praise they will not hear.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - Give praise to others while they are here; they won't need it in the hereafter.
