"God loveth a cheerful giver."
- 2 Corinthians 9:7

The only giving which deserves any credit is that which is done willingly, joyfully and without pressure. There is no legality in acceptable Christian giving. Tithing was a minimun under the law, but under grace we do not figure percentages, but are to give liberally, according to each one's ability. If Christians knew the true grace in giving in  2 Cor. 8:7, we would not have to devise schemes and tricks to get folks to contribute.  I remember a saying during world war two, "Give until it hurts" But that is not . . .

As long as it hurts you have not yet given enough. Rather we should "Give till it feels good." If giving does not make you cheerful you had better give some more.

Christian friends, whether we consider ourselves rich or poor, our love for the LORD should provide us with all the reason we need to be generous in our giving.

      Incline our hearts toward giving
      That we may thus express
      To Thee, the great provider
      Our love and thankfulness.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - Christ is our reason for living, and for giving.
