"The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace."
- Romans 8:6

Paul divides people into two categories, those who let themselves be controlled by their sinful natures, and those who follow after the Holy Spirit. All of us would be in the first category if Jesus hadn't offered us a way out. Once we have said yes to Jesus we will want to continue following Him, because His way brings life and peace. All of us would be in the first category if Jesus hadn't offered us a way out. Once we have said yes to Jesus we will want to continue following Him, because His way brings life and peace. Daily we must consciously choose to center our lives on God. Use the Bible to discover God's guidelines, and then follow them. In every perplexing situation ask yourself. "What would Jesus want me to do?" When the Holy Spirit points out what is right do it eagerly. Paul sums it up in the unforgettable lines: "For me to live is Christ." Such spiritual-mindedness spells peace with  God and peace of heart.

Christian friends, The question facing each of us today is, "Will I retain control of my life or yield it to the LORD today?" To live only for what I want is to be controlled by the sinful nature. Paul said this leads to death. To one degree or another, we will all lose control of our lives as we grow older. Yielding control to God is a choice we can make every day, starting today!

Although I may not understand
the path You've laid for me,
Complete surrender to Your will
LORD, this my prayer shall be.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - True freedom comes not from choosing our way, but from yielding to God's way.
