Greek mythology relates that the mother of Achilles dipped him, when an infant, into the Styx, believing that the waters of this river would make her son invalnerable in battle. Everyone is said to have an "Achilles heel," a weak spot, where the fiery darts of the wicked are most likely to inflict critical wounds. The weak spot differs. In some it may be a longing for worldly pleasures or the love of money; in others, overconfidence, selfishness, pride, doubt, and the like. The old evil foe somehow finds the weak spot, and temptation usually strikes hardest at the point where we are least prepared to take its blow.

Christian friends,- Let us not be foolish enough to think that we have no weak spot. The warning of the Apostle is: "Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall." Nor should it be difficult to find the weak spot in our moral or spiritual make-up. That is the point where we must double our guard against the adversary, resisting him steadfast in the faith.

Take the name of Jesus ever
As a shield from every snare;
If temptations round you gather,
Breathe that holy name in prayer.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - Whenever we fall, it is usually at the point where to think we are strong.
