"Be not deceived; God is not mocked; for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."
- Galatians 6:7

Here we have an unchanging and unchangeable law. In nature we know that each seed reproduces its own kind, because the divine Creator has so designed it. Even a city dweller without farm experience knows that when a farmer sows corn, he will have a harvest of corn and not of wheat. This is an inflexible law: "Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

And it is just as true of life in general. The things we think and say and do are like seeds which reproduce themselves and sooner or later yield a harvest of the same kind. If a person takes an evil thought into his mind and permits it to stay there, he must expect evil results. If a young person insists on "sowing wild oats," he can be certain that the reaping will be accordingly. But the good we do today, the kind word we speak, the obedience we give to God's Word, these, too, will reproduce themselves to bless us.

Christian friends, This truth makes living tremendously important. A famous painter was asked why he was so painstakingly careful, and he replied: "Because I paint for eternity." Some things we do now, will have a bearing upon our eternity. What careful thought we should give to our sowing.

We're always sowing seeds in life
By everything we do and say,
So let's make sure the fruit we reap
Comes from the good we do each day.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - The seeds we sow today determine the kind of fruit we'll reap tomorrow.
