One thing that made the testimony of John and the other disciples so powerful was their firsthand knowledge of the LORD Jesus. The apostle said, "we have heard, we have seen with our eyes, and our hand have handled, of the Word of life." If our witness for Christ is to have a similar impact, we too must speak from a personal acquaintance with the living LORD. Mere familiarity with the facts of the Gospel do not make one a witness. To witness effectively to the power of the Gospel, there must be union with the risen Christ.
 
We have not had the privilege of seeing the Master face to face, nor of actually hearing Him speak as John did. But we do have a . . .

We have not had the privilege of seeing the Master face to face, nor of actually hearing Him speak as John did. But we do have a personal, vital relationship with Him through faith, which makes His life and power available to us. An intimate acquaintance with Him in our everyday lives.
 
Jesus said, "He that hath My commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Me; and he that loveth Me shall be loved of My Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him. John 14:21.
 
Let us get to know the LORD, it's the only way to have a convincing witness.
 
The harvest is ripe, and the fields all are white,
Alas, but the laborers are few;
'Tis far better not to profess Jesus' name,
If others can't see Him in you.
 
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: If you want your neighbor to know what Christ will do for him, let him see what Christ has done for you.
