"Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you."
- Luke 8:39

In today's gospel, we read of a man possessed by many demons who had been wonderfully restored by a miracle of Jesus.  Many today would say that this man was a raving maniac. In gratitude to the LORD he wanted to stay with Jesus to worship Him. But the LORD shows him another duty and greater privilege: He says, "Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you."  Showing how great things God has done unto us is the way the Kingdom of God has been built among us.

Grandfather told me an old legend (story). As our LORD, on the day of His Ascension, came to the. . .

Grandfather told me an old legend (story). As our LORD, on the day of His Ascension, came to the gates of heaven, He was met by the angel Gabriel, who asked: "LORD, is it finished?"  Our LORD answered: "IT is finished." Gabriel then asked; "Shall I now send down the legions of angels to proclaim to the lost children of men that their redemption has been accomplished and that the gates of Paradise stand open ready to receive them?" Just then our LORD turned and looked down to earth. As He saw that little band of followers slowly wending its way to Jerusalem, He turned to Gabriel and said: "No; do not send the angels. I have left My disciples down there, and they will proclaim My message."

Christian friends, today it is up to you who have experienced the healing powers of Christ's redemption to show how great things God has done unto you.

      To the work, to the work, let the hungry be fed;
      To the fountain of life let the weary be led;
      In the cross and its banner our glory shall be,
      While we herald the tidings, "Salvation is free."
