Have you ever heard of ?Ear coning?? Here is how it works: you lie down on your side and stick a cone-shaped candle in your ear. Light the candle and, according to the promoters of this crazy idea, the candle will create ?negative pressure? inside your ear, and it will also remove undesirable wax from your ear. This is what ?Coning Works, Arizona? claims anyway, but the truth is, the candles do not produce negative pressure, because they are not hollow and they stick inside the ear, creating a good seal with the skin. Also, they do not remove wax from the ear. They can in fact injure it.

But many people have paid good money for ear coning, because they thought it was really true. The fact that even one person was silly enough to stick a burning candle in his ear demonstrates how gullible humans can be. But some people will believe anything.

The same can be said of people who believe in Darwinian evolution. As a theory it sounds extremely believable ? on the surface. (By ?evolution? we mean the gradual change of one species into another.) It is only when the claims are examined and tested, that the holes in the theory begin to open. As Jeremy Walter (PhD in Mechanical Engineering) wrote, 'science is the human enterprise of seeking to describe accurately and quantitatively the nature and processes of our universe through observation, hypothesis, and experimental validation.? The fact is, evolution has never been observed, and has never been produced in an experiment. There are also plenty of hypothetical suggestions, but none of them has been proved, or been provable. Yet millions . . .

Yet millions believe in evolution.

Look at ear coning again.  When someone lights a candle, the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics operates.  The candle burns down, and available energy, in the wax and wick, is lost as heat, and some light.  When the candle has burned right down, the chemical process is irreversible.  We cannot expect the wax and wick to spontaneously reconstruct themselves.  In much the same way, the whole universe is like a candle burning down ? eventually all available energy will be used up and the whole universe will collapse into ?heat death?.  Obviously, when we find a candle burning down, we know that it must have had a beginning, and origin, when it was fully there and not burning ? in the same way because the universe is at present burning down, we know that it must have had a beginning too.

This point of view is entirely in harmony with what the Bible says, that the whole universe was created within six days, but subsequently came under a ?curse? which has entailed the gradual decay and dissolution of its original perfection.  In the universe we see stars burning out, but never do we see a new star being born.  We see species becoming extinct, but never do we see any new species appearing.  We see mutations gradually increasing in the genetic code of life, and we are quite used to the sight of aging and death, but we never see the opposite.  The whole trend is downhill, just like a candle burning away.

So why, in the face of so much contradictory evidence, do so many people believe in evolution?  The first reason is moral, and/or spiritual, not scientific.  It suits fallen, sinful Man to believe a theory which excludes a Living God, because if God was real, Man would be accountable to Him.

The second reason is a form of brainwashing and monopolization.  The mainstream academic community accepts the unproven concept of evolution and excludes alternative thinking by decree.  This means evolutionary error is systematically preserved and promoted ? in other words, the theory is institutionalized.

If only Pontius Pilate had taken an hour or two to listen to Jesus when he asked Him ?What is truth?? instead of hurrying him off to the crucifixion.  Likewise, many people today need to sit down and take time to listen to what creationists say before they hastily condemn God's Word.
