A tough old cowboy once counseled his grandson that if he wanted to live a long life, the secret was to sprinkle a little gunpowder on his oatmeal every morning.

The grandson did this religiously and he lived to the age of 93.

When he died, he left 14 children, 28 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and a fifteen foot hole in the wall of the crematorium.

Admittedly, the objects in this game don't look too much like bubbles and they don't sound like them when they pop either. That's too bad because there is something satisfying about the sound of bubbles popping. Isn't that why people like popping bubble wrap - both in the real world and online?

If it was just making any old noise that thrilled people, you would find people just sitting there crinkling packing paper, rustling cardboard boxes, or affixing masking tape to their hair and screaming as they rip it off. But I digress.

While vacationing in Alberta, Canada, my husband and I went horseback riding. 

Before the ride, I took my husband's picture on his horse. 

Afterward, he looked displeased. 

"Honey," he said, "you could have at least waited until they untied the horse from the post."

I've already told you about my first guitar lesson (on an accordian), so now let me tell you about my piano lesson.

A long time ago, in a land far away, I met and fell in love with a beautiful maiden - a piano teaching maiden to be exact.  As we grew closer I told here I thought it would be fun for her to teach me to play the piano, and so my first lesson began.  Things were going not too badly until she told me my arms were too tense.  So I tried to relax them.  Again, "Relax your arms,"she said while tapping them gently.  I tried again.  "Relax your arms." I tried again.  "Relax your arms."  I tried again and again and again until I was so tense trying to relax my arms I turned to the dear girl and explained that perhaps it would be better for us if I didn't learn the piano from her.

Twenty-two years later, we are still together and I still can't play the piano - though I am proud to say that I can play better than this cat.

The final exam in electrical engineering worried my son, Don. 

On the last day of class, the professor wished the students luck as he wrote a phone number on the blackboard.

"If any of you have difficulty understanding the review material, call this number," he said as he dismissed the class.

On Saturday afternoon, stumped by one of the review problems, Don reached for the phone and heard a recorded message from Dial-A-Prayer.

The SPCA rescued Maggie from Manitoba's Red River flood in 1996 and brought her to British Columbia where she had two short term owners before becoming a part of the Davis household where she preferred adults over kids, picked and ate fruit from trees in the backyard, and very rarely went into water at the beach.
