Second Word From The Cross

"Verily I say unto Thee,Today shalt thou be with Me in Paradise."
- Luke 23:42-43

Three crosses stood on Calvary. The Cross in the middle was a life giving Cross. On either side of Jesus, hung two thieves who deserved to die. The cross to one side was a life receiving cross. The cross to the other side was a life rejecting cross.

At first both criminals mocked Jesus. Then something wonderful happened within one of them. The Holy Spirit, through the power of the Word made flesh, transformed a heart of one of them. This sinner was drawn to the heart of our Savior. He pleaded to the Savior, "LORD, remember me when Thou enterest into Thy kingdom."

The answer came softly, "Verily I say unto thee, today thou shalt be with Me in Paradise." On that day the Savior entered into Paradise with a former thief at His hand.

Now, as then, Jesus saves those who truly repent, even at the eleventh hour.

The dying thief rejoiced to see
That fountain in his day;
And there have I, as vile as he,
Washed all my sins away.

PRAY - Remember me, O LORD, remember me in death, and take me into Thy Kingdom. By the Holy Spirit keep me in such living union with Thee that Thy life will be my life, Thy Paradise my eternal home. Amen.
