To see a great painting with your eyes, to hear a symphony with your ears is an experience which delights and lifts ones spirits.
 
It was a deep glory, which the two unnamed disciples saw when Jesus, walking with them on the way to Emmaus, opened the Scriptures. They thought they knew the Sacred Book. After all, they had been familiar with it from their childhood. But they had read into it their own false hopes. As a result, the death of Jesus was to them a tragedy, without any hope.
 
Now, under the skillful guidance of Jesus, they saw the real portrait of the Messiah, the God-Man, who as the Savior of mankind should suffer, die, and rise again. As a result their hearts . . .

Christian friends, such is the experience of you who have eyes to see. What glory shines from the pages of the Bible: the glory of God's Law, the glory of God's redeeming love in Jesus, the glory of the Only-Begotten of the Father, the glory of His kingdom, the glory of the life to come.
