"This is the victory that overcometh the would even our faith.  Who is he that overcometh the world but he that believeth that Jesus is theSon of God?"
- 1 John 5:4,5

The world's appraisal of victory and heroism varies with the centuries.  In the days of the Roman Empire, Caesar might well have shouted: "This is the victory that overcometh the world, even my Roman legions." The world's appraisal of victory and heroism varies with the centuries.  In the days of the Roman Empire, Caesar might well have shouted: "This is the victory that overcometh the world, even my Roman legions." In our day the physician who discovers the remedy for a deadly disease might declare: "This is the victory that over cometh the world, even my new medicine." Or the successful businessman will be hailed as he asserts: "This is the victory that overcometh the world, even my methods." The world loves a winner and often lavishes decorations and awards, which will not abide forever.

But there is a conflict, not recognized by the world, in which victory is far more to be coverted and in which the hero who conquers receives a crown which fadeth not away.  This is the battle against "the devil, the world, and our flesh." It is the deathless struggle between the forces of evil and the will of God.  It is the daily conflict between salvation and damnation.  Victory here is possible only through faith, a faith which accepts Jesus as God's own Son, redemption through His blood, and His sanctifying grace as the power to overcome the world in our own life.

Although this life may bring us pain, Our faith in Christ can help us see That if we will obey His Word He'll give us joy and victory.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - Surrender is victory when we surrender to God.`
