"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
- Acts 1:8

Jesus promised the disciples that they would receive power to witness after they recived the Holy Spirit. Notice the progression--they would receive the Holy Spirit--He would give them power, and --they would witness with extraordinary results. Often we try to reverse the order and witness by our own power and authority. Witnessing is not showing what we can do for God. It is showing and telling what God has done for us.

According to God's Word the power that dwells in Christians is the same power that raised up Jesus from the dead. We have weapons that are more powerful than all earthly might, but the weapons of our warfare are not of . . .

According to God's Word the power that dwells in Christians is the same power that raised up Jesus from the dead. We have weapons that are more powerful than all earthly might, but the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh. We have the power of the Holy Spirit, which is strong to the breaking down of strongholds and dominions. We have the power of prayer. We have the Word, which is the sword of the Holy Spirit. "God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power." Jesus said: "All power is given unto Me," and then He said: "Lo, I am with you always."

Christian friends, This thought should remove all fear of man and lead us to do God's work with courage. We cannot be defeated, because we have the LORD who cannot be defeated. There are mighty enemies that stand against us, but the mighty LORD stand with us.

The Spirit gives us power to live
A life that's pleasing to the LORD;
He also guides us and provides
Direction in God's Holy Word.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - The power that drives us comes from the spirit inside us.
